Job Summary
As the Café Lead at Turns and Tales, you’ll play a vital role in daily operations, team coordination, and guest satisfaction. You’ll be the point person on shift, ensuring smooth service, supporting staff, and delivering exceptional hospitality. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who is passionate about people, board games, books, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Coordination
- Supervise daily café operations and lead by example during shifts.
- Motivate, train, and support service staff.
- Delegate tasks to ensure efficiency.
- Customer Experience
- Maintain a warm, friendly environment that aligns with the Turns and Tales ethos.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Encourage engagement with book-related initiatives and events.
- Operational Excellence
- Ensure product quality, cleanliness, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies.
- Handle cash and POS transactions with accuracy and integrity.
- Develop and maintain food and drink menu offerings
- Brand & Community Engagement
- Help implement seasonal promotions, events, and café programs.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to enhance customer engagement.
- Foster a culture of storytelling, conversation, and community.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality leadership role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility and initiative.
- Smart Serve and Food Handling certification preferred
- Passion for board games, books, and community-building is a big plus!
